What is ministry?
Ministry is living your life following Christ’s example through the strengths and abilities He has given you.  In many ways ministry is living out the two greatest commandments:
"The most important one," answered Jesus, "is this: 'Hear, O Israel, the Lord our God, the Lord is one. Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.' The second is this: 'Love your neighbor as yourself.' There is no commandment greater than these." (Mark 12:29-31)

So the focus of ministry is on love and relationships. It is not just serving at a church or evangelism; but it is actively living out your faith in every action you make and living your life for the Kingdom of God.
Life at the YWAM base is constantly ministry. The Staff are living at the base, so they need to be always ready to help in the community when the need arises. Ministry is relationships; so every staff member has a completely different ministry then the other. Every person is using the gifts and strengths that God has given them to minister to others and build up the Kingdom of God.     The above are a few examples…

"Then the King will say to those on his right, 'Come, you who are blessed by my Father; take your inheritance, the kingdom prepared for you since the creation of the world.  For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me.'  Then the righteous will answer him, 'Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you something to drink?  When did we see you a stranger and invite you in, or needing clothes and clothe you?  When did we see you sick or in prison and go to visit you?'  The King will reply, 'I tell you the truth, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers of mine, you did for me.'"
(Matthew 25:34-40)
