The clinic |
It strives to treat a person holistically (physical, emotional, and spiritual health), not just focusing on a secular focus on health. Therefore, the YWAM staff is able to provide help in all the various aspects of a person's life not just medical.
The goal of the clinic is for anyone to be able to receive the service of treatment and care, and not suffer from a treatable disease.
This year, the Clinic ministry hopes to be able to promote community awareness as to HIV/AIDS, hygiene, and sanitation by running various seminars in the community. The clinic will also hope to provide support and advice to people who are tested HIV positive to stop the sickness from spreading, as well as help them live in the community with this disease.
Another area of the clinic is to help deliver children, and be able to support the expectant and new mothers. Miriam, one of the YWAM staff, is a mid-wife and is able to provide help and advice to the people involved. She is able to mentor the women through this difficult process, as well as incorporate Christ's love into this
The clinic also provides subsidized medication for the community. Often drugs are too far, or expensive for the community to access; so the clinic helps when it can.
However the clinic also faces many challenges. The staff is inadequate for the need and vision of the project (only two YWAM staff). Since the clinic loses money on the medication it provides; it lacks the finances to continue to offer the community the care it needs.
It is the vision of the Yei YWAM base to be able to provide adequate medical care through trained staff, medical equipment, and services sufficient to meet the need in the area. The base’s hope and prayer is for people to partner with this project so that it can show the love of Christ to the community by addressing a need to their physical health. Through this ministry, a person not only receives the care for the physical body, but also they are able to be helped spiritually.
