The
Prison in Yei presently has about 150 people; yet accommodations for far less
than that. There is no access to clean
water, and food is scarce.
“People who are in the prisons feel rejected, nobody thinks
or cares for them; the community sees and thinks these are the worst people… But we come to love…I’m just giving them
hope; a word of hope in their life” – Santos
The
YWAM base ministers to the prison when it can. They hope to be able to give clean water, bread, and bibles at
different days during the week (if the finances, and time is available). They are also involved in various Sunday
services. These ministries open the door
for relationships, prayer, and love to be given to the prisoners. It’s primary focus is to show the people that
they are loved by Christ and that there is hope for their lives; even though
the community may have completely abandoned and rejected them.
