Water- the God-given requirement of life on the planet. Everything on earth needs it to survive. If your wondering how this is a ministry try turning off your water for a week and see how many things you use it for and what you would do if you didn't have it (just to help, a couple examples are cooking, drinking water, showering, washing hands, washing clothes and dishes, and many more...)
Youth With a Mission provides good-clean water for the community. This helps prevent water-related diseases like typhoid, cholera, parasites, and many others.
This may not seem like much of a ministry, but it means a far less secure compound, and requires everyone to wait in line to access the water. But these are small sacrifices compared to being able to minister to the community by providing a resource that everyone needs. It also allows for the community to associate and have time with the YWAM community, and be able to see Christ's love.
The borehole has become a centre for communication among the women (for it is primarily women who collect the water for the homes). While waiting their turn, people are able to talk and relate with each other. So to be able to have the borehole in the YWAM compound enables the community to be able to see the staff’s lives, as well as enables the staff to be able to relate with the community.
