Augustino Soroba is from a village in Yei County, while Betty is from close-by Lianya County. They met when Soroba was gold digging by profession before they were Christians. They got married and 1995 and both got saved soon after.
They have six children: James 14, John 12, Elias Sunday 9, Andrew Dada 5, Susie 3, and Esther 1. Their desire is for their children to know God deeper and see them brought up in education.
Before he knew the Lord, Augustino Soroba was a drunkard; however, through the Church, he was able to see Christ. After he committed his life to Jesus he stopped drinking and learned to speak and read English.
“Many things changed in my life,” he said. “God did it and I am so grateful."
Ministry Vision:
Augustino's and Betty's vision is to focus on training and building up Church leaders as well as be able to reach the unreached people groups in South Sudan.
"My goal is to see the Body of Christ straightened, standing strong, and focused on God’s mission. After training Church leaders, when I leave, my plan is for them to own the training for themselves. I will be able to then target a new area." - Augustino Soroba
Ministry:
Augustino’s official roles at the base include driving the base truck, and running the base clinic. However, his main focus is in teaching and training church leaders.
“I want to encourage them to stand firm in their faith. I want them to know the Bible so they can share truth with others.”
Over the next three years, Augustino is targeting two regions for Leadership training: Tali, and Terekeka. His hope is to run seminars in both locations, teaching and training the leaders; so that they will be able to teach and train others. He will then hopefully branch out to a new location.
Augustino Soroba is also the pastor of a church in Yei, and oversees three other churches.
Life verse:
"Timothy, my dear son, be
strong through the grace that God gives you in Christ Jesus. You have heard me teach
things that have been confirmed by many reliable witnesses. Now teach these
truths to other trustworthy people who will be able to pass them on to others."
