Mary

Mary Apiro is from Soroti, Uganda and married Joseph in 2010.  She came to YWAM Yei, with her 6-month old daughter Patience; and Patience’s sister Akello Rhoda who is 10.  They are still praying for support so that Joseph will be able to join them.

Ministry Vision:
“To mentor teachers who will be able to raise up the next generation of pupils, as well as minister to the community by teaching the children with Christ’s love and character.”

Ministry:

In 2006, Mary joined YWAM Yei, partnering with Lokuta, in order to start the Redeem Nursery and Primary School. Before coming, she studied in Uganda in order to become a teacher so she could reach the unreached people of South Sudan. “I had a passion in my heart to reach unreached people.” She is now the deputy-head teacher and acting headmaster of the school. She loves her pupils, and feels that the best way to reach out to them is by teaching them how to grow in their relationship with God and how to understand the world.

Future Vision:
Mary’s plan is to work in YWAM Yei until someone can take over and raise the children up in the Lord.  She then plans to reach out to unreached children by opening a school and home for orphans, neglected children, and children unable to pay their school fees.

Favourite verse:
“For I know the plans I have for you," declares the LORD, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.  Then you will call upon me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you.  You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart.”
Jeremiah (29:11-13)
