George and Anna
George and Anna were married in 1998.
In 2006, the Lord gave a burden to George and Anna,
from their homeland Uganda, to go to a country where they did not know the
language. They moved to South Sudan with
their nephew George in 2008.
Ministry:
George and Anna’s desire is to see the people of
South Sudan live a sustainable life.
“Sudan has been in war for a number of
years which has caused the people to depend on relief. Our heart is to hep the communities around, and the entire body of Christ to understand
that God created us and put resources around for us to enjoy life in fullness, sustainable and dignified as Kingdom citizens. We also want to become a self sustainable base. If I tell people to be
sustainable, then we need to be practicing sustainability.”
- George Takan
Their hope is to teach the South Sudanese how
to do farming as a business. They are pioneering the agriculture project on the base, and are teaching
the local population how to utilize tools like the base’s two bulls. Joseph (in the picture above), is a local boy
from the community whom George has been training and mentoring. Joseph is also hoping to complete a DTS in
the near future, and possibly take over the care of the base’s bulls.
Besides taking care of the base farm,
George is the office cashier, on the leadership team, takes part in many base
ministries (like the hospital and prison ministry), and is the DTS School leader.
Anna is in charge of the base’s hospitality
department. She loves building relationships
with families when she is not busy managing their home or helping out around
the base. She also helped staff the last
DTS.
Future
Ministry Vision:
George
and Anna’s future vision is to teach and train church leaders how
to be self-sustainable and live holistic lives in the Kingdom of God. They want to sensitize them; teach them that if a person is emotionally or mentally sick, then their spiritual life will not be well either. They desire for the Church to utilize the
resources (physically as well as spiritually) that God has given them to expand God's kingdom as well as help vulnerable people groups.
Key Verse:
Key Verse:
“This message was kept secret for centuries and generations past, but now it has been revealed to God’s people. For God wanted them to know that the riches and glory of Christ are for you Gentiles, too. And this is the secret: Christ lives in you. This gives you assurance of sharing his glory. So we tell others about Christ, warning everyone and teaching everyone with all the wisdom God has given us. We want to present them to God, perfect in their relationship to Christ. That’s why I work and struggle so hard, depending on Christ’s mighty power that works within me.”
